It’s tough to say at this point what the summer will look like. Hopefully a lot more open than what we have at the moment.
We were this close to getting our bubble back. They had a date in mind and it looked good to go. Then the numbers started to go up and the bubble was gone.
Things are starting to look better and will hopefully continue to improve over the coming days. But will it be enough to get the bubble back?
It’s hard to say. If you look at how things are proceeding in other parts of the country, it looks pretty hopeful. Although some places are being cautious and others are determined to reopen. If you look at Alberta, where just a few short weeks ago they had one of the highest infection rates in the world and yesterday were seriously talking about having the Calgary Stampede taking place in July.
Well… the politicians seemed to be talking about being open for the Stampede. Medical professionals seemed to be saying, “too soon.”
But we don’t need a full on rodeo. Just a nice little bubble would be good for now. So we could visit a nearby province, or some of them could visit us.
Most of us have been trying. Doing our best to stop the spread. With any luck, it will pay off.
While it would be great if everything fully reopened, just getting the bubble back is enough to signal that what we have been doing is working. Honestly, just being able to visit family in the city seems to feel like a big step.
We hope to find out tomorrow.
