The Start Of Colour

Colour is starting to appear in the world. Over the past week or more I have noticed crocuses popping up here and there. And I mean here and there.

I don’t actually have crocuses in and garden. I just have random flowers the appear on spots in the lawn. I know there is one white one that seems to always appear in the same spot, but there are also some yellow and purple ones that seem rather random. Although it’s hard to remember where they are from year to year. I have never planted any. I don’t know where they came from. But I enjoy seeing the random crocuses each year. It adds a bit of colour to spring.

And this morning, just after we got an early morning shower, I had to look twice. Somehow the grass seemed greener. And there seemed to be this yellowish glow coming from what would appear to be a pile of sticks.

The pile of sticks is a forsythia bush that is in bad need of a haircut. I meant to give it a trim last summer, but never got to it. Now I have to wait again, at least until the yellow stage is over.

That seemed to be the source of the yellow glow. I know the time is coming, but I wasn’t really expecting it. Was it really time for the forsythia to bloom?

It must be getting close. I noticed several others on my way to work today. Some are further along than others. Probably because they are in spots that are a bit more sheltered or maybe the soil is just a bit better. But they seem to be starting.

We’re not talking full out bloom yet, but it can’t be far away. It won’t be long now until the pile of sticks turns into a pile of yellow.
