The Staycation

I`m taking next week off. It really wasn`t part of some big plan.

I wasn`t planning on going anywhere. I`m really not a tropical sort of person. I like warm weather, but by this time of year I have adjusted to our weather and going to a warmer climate for a few days just to return to a colder one does nothing for me. I`m okay with staying here, which is a good thing this year.

But I had a few days left over that I had to use. My dog is excited. I explained to her that I`ll be around next week. You might think a dog would not understand the concept, but I swear she is already making plans for places we can walk and mud holes she can roll in. She likes mud holes, which explains the back seat of my car. But that`s a whole other story.

Other than that, I suppose I can pretend to be down south. Oil is cheap. I can crank the furnace, get a couple inflatable palm trees and pretend. But that`s only going to last until the dog wants to go out and reality meats me at the door with a chilly blast.

Gas is cheap. So I can afford to drive around. But there`s no place to go.

So I guess social distancing is the thing. Which isn`t bad. Actually, it`s good practice. For fishing season. I don`t want people to see where I`m catching fish.

So that`s my plan. Stay home and practice staying away from people so I`m ready for the following week when I want people to stay away from me.
