I’m not even going to pretend I know anything about the stock market. I’m not sure the people who are actually involved do either. But I have been sort of following what’s going on lately.
That’s just because I’ve been trying to figure it all out. I have no intention of putting money in there to see what happens. The problem with things like that is by the time we hear about it happening, it’s probably too late. You need to get in really early and get out before anyone really knows what’s going on in order to actually make money. Otherwise, you may get lucky, but it becomes more and more likely you will lose.
It is fun to watch smaller players beat larger players at their own game. There is always a certain amount of satisfaction in watching the underdog win. But its still not for me.
On the other hand, I’m sure I have money in mutual funds which may or may not be playing around in all this. I have no idea. And I like it that way. As long as the general direction is up, I’m happy. The actual day to day operation is not my concern.
But it does make for a fun spectator sport. Kind of like watching a live version of Trading Places.
I’m just not inclined to jump into the fray myself. As near as I can figure, lottery tickets are far safer. I’m pretty sure I’m not going to win, but I have an exact idea on how much I stand to lose, so the risk is lower. As for the reward, it could happen.
