The Vaccine Pasport

For pretty much the past year, there has been talk of vaccine passports. Some people were against them. So were for them. I don’t so much as care which, as long as everyone makes up their minds.

Like last week with the Bruce Springsteen show on Broadway. At first it was announced that you needed an F.D.A. approved vaccine, which would mean that everyone who had Astro-Zeneca would be left out. Now, they have changed that. At least for that particular show. Others still have it in place.

There are many things to consider, including the fact that some parts of the world have very different vaccines. It would just be nice to get something figured out before we start to get things opened up.

And then there’s the whole thing about how you prove you have been vaccinated and with which one, if it really matters.

Years ago I can remember the little yellow book you had to carry with you for international travel. It was essentially a vaccine passport. If you were going to a country that had say, typhus or typhoid, you would get you shot and carry you little yellow book with you when you crossed the border. Seems pretty simple.

But now that we are faced with the prospect of individual venues setting their own rules on which vaccines will be accepted and that you might need proof to go to an event, we really should have some sort of world standard.

On top of that, you have some areas that have banned the idea of a vaccine passport outright.

Really, I don’t care about that. Just tell me what needs to be done and make it clear. The last year and a half has been confusing enough. A little clarity would be a good thing.
