There Must Be A Way

As much as I love gift bags, there are some thing that need to be wrapped. I will admit, I am a huge fan of gift bags. I try to use them for as much as possible. Not only because they’re easier, but also to save my knees and other joints.

It’s one of those things you don’t realize as you get older. How difficult it can be to spend any amount of time sitting on the floor. I used to be able to pull it off no problem. Drop down with various piles around me, wrap a few things and bounce right back up. Then, a few years ago, my body started telling me I wasn’t going to do that anymore. I’d try to get up, but sort of still remain in the same general shape even though I was mostly upright. Sort of.

So I thought I might try something different this year. Wrapping at a table. It seems easy enough, but you don’t seem to have quite the same 360 degree area to put the things you need. Your tape, your scissors, your paper. We all probably have different places we put them so we can access them without thinking. And in my case, a squirt bottle. Because cats.

Cats are one thing that are much easier to wrap in a gift bag. Not that they need to be wrapped. They just like to get in the way. It’s easier just to wrap them to keep them out of the way.

But getting back up is becoming a major issue. I’m fine as long as I’m down there. But things no longer seem to be unfolding the way they should.

I’m going to try the table this year. Just so I don’t run the risk of having to stay on the floor. I even have a bag picked out for the cats.
