There’s A Holiday On Monday! Do You Get It Off?

This upcoming Monday will is Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. Canada is observing the occasion with federal holiday and most provinces are as well, including Nova Scotia.

Public schools and all provincial and federal offices and services will be closed on Monday excluding health services. Since it is not a statutory holiday many business will remain open, it will be up to the business if they fell it is appropriate to close. There was some confusion when it was first announced but most private business or companies seem to be remaining open.

Do you get the day off on Monday? Do you feel like you should? Should it have been a statutory holiday?
