The list would probably end up being too long, but there are a lot of things we never would have thought about just one short year ago.
Just as a couple of examples, who would have thought Dolly Parton would be helping to save the world? She has been a bright spot in the world for years, and certainly helped people stay sane over the past year with her book reading and the like, but now we find out that thanks to a generous donation, she helped fund research into one of the potentially most successful Covid vaccines.
And who would have thought the non-medical face mask would become a fashion accessory? If someone would have told me last year that I would be wondering if my mask fit the rest of my outfit, I would have had serious doubts about their sanity. But that’s where we are.
I started thinking about that yesterday. I was asked to participate in something fairly public. (More details on that at a later date.) My first thought was a bit of concern over how we make this happen. There are restrictions. But that’s a problem for someone else. I have another issue. Do I have the right face mask?
It sounds silly, but it is something to think about these days. Not that we have a lot of public events to go to or anything like that, but does your mask fit your outfit and the occasion?
I need something a little formal, but not black. This is Christmas related, so perhaps red. Or maybe something with a nice poinsettia across my mouth. Or maybe snowflakes. Or the lower part of a Santa face. But where would I find such a thing?
Things like that were not on anyone’s radar in 2019. Now they’re a part of life. Like… need hand sanitizer? I got some right here.
