Time To Celebrate

The weather is looking good and Covid restrictions are pretty much gone. For the past two years, we haven’t been able to do much with Canada Day celebrations. This seems to be the comeback year.

There are a lot of events being planned in various location all around our area. We probably all have our own favourites.

For many, the highlight might be the fireworks that happen in many areas. Since my dog is decidedly anti-fireworks I’ll be spending time with her. Not that I don’t like them, but I’ve seen plenty of fireworks and she feels better when I’m around. If you have pets, you may want to make sure they are safe and well secured tomorrow evening. But no matter how some animals feel about them, a lot of people enjoy them.

Others may like some of the yard sales taking place. Or parades. Or any number of other things that happen.

One of my favourite Canada Day events would have to be the parade that has happened on Ponhook Lake over the past several years. People decorate their boats and make a trip around a big section of the lake. Sure, it looks nice, but it also is the fact that this is largely a spontaneous event makes me like it. People just got together and decided they wanted to celebrate Canada.

Sure, we may have our problems and issues, but there are also a lot of good things about Canada. Hopefully, we can concentrate on that part. Just for one day.
