The Awesome Foundation of the South Shore gives away $1,000 each month to help people realize their awesome ideas.
This month Nancy Rogers, of Seaweed Tours in Lunenburg, is one of three finalists.
She runs an 8-person tour bus offering scenic tours to hidden gems, as she likes to call them, around Lunenburg. She is also a gifted storyteller and entertains guests with a variety of stories she has collected over the years.
Unfortunately the pandemic has brought the tourism season to a grinding halt, so Rogers has been brainstorming for ideas on how to get her bus out on the road. Recently she has been doing rolling telegrams around Lunenburg County free of charge but she misses taking people on her tours.
So, she made a pitch to the Awesome Foundation asking them to buy four seats on her bus with the grant money, which would remain empty, and she would buy the other four. Her goal is to provide tours to frontline healthcare workers or those with a connection to the RCMP, as a a way to pay tribute to them.
“Awesome would be supporting me and I would be supporting my guests. I want to be able to give back so this could be a win-win situation,” she said.
The April winner for the $1000 Awesome South Shore money-giveaway-event will happen via this zoom link starting at 7PM on Wednesday, April 29: https://zoom.us/j/854625645
