The federal government has presented what it describes as a “final” offer to Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) members.
New details about the offer, which was tabled on Friday, were released by the federal Treasury Board of Secretariat on Saturday.
The “comprehensive” offer addresses all remaining union demands and includes an “enhanced wage offer,” said the department.
It also includes solutions to address priorities such as telework, seniority, and contracting “without impeding our ability to deliver services to Canadians.”
“This is a fair, competitive and reasonable final offer, with wage and non-wage improvements, and we believe that employees should have an opportunity to review the details of it,” said a news release from the Treasury Board.
No specific details about the offer have been released. The federal government had been offering a nine per cent wage increase over three years, while the union said it had moved away from its original demand of 13.5 per cent over three years.
On Friday, PSAC confirmed talks had resumed with the Treasury Board and that they had received a new offer from the employer.
“We hope to continue bargaining this weekend in order to reach a fair deal for our 120,000 federal public service members,” the union said in a statement. “Talks are also ongoing for our 35,000 members at Canada Revenue Agency.”
Saturday marked the 11th day of strike action by the more than 155,000 federal public service workers across the country.
