Two 14-year-olds charged in Halifax youth murder case

Two 14-year-olds have been charged with second-degree murder in the homicide case of Ahmad Maher Al Marrach.

Halifax Regional Police arrested the two youths in Sackville Wednesday night, according to a social media post.

The two will appear in court Friday.

Police received a call about an injured person around 5 p.m. on April 22. Officers found Al Marrach in the parking lot of a shopping centre at 7001 Mumford Road on April 22.

He was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries. Police determined it was a homicide.

Two 16-year-olds were arrested on Monday in relation to the homicide but were released without charges.

Friends and family of Al Marrach gathered on Wednesday at the Kearney Lake Mosque to remember his life and death.
