Two fatal motorcycle collisions in Lunenburg County only five hours apart

Two people are dead after separate motorcycle crashes in Lunenburg County.

The first incident took place Saturday, July 21 around 3:30 p.m. when RCMP were alerted to a motorcycle crash in First South.

Investigators believe the motorcycle lost control along Highway 332, and then crashed into a ditch launching the driver and passenger.

The passenger identified as 78 year-old Lunenburg woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was airlifted to hospital after sustaining serious injuries.

Calls then came in around 8:50 p.m. reporting a second crash on Highway 3 in Deans Corner.

Upon arrival, RCMP discovered a similar scenario in which they believe the driver (and sole occupant) lost control before crashing off the road and being launched.

RCMP identified the driver of the Kawasaki as a 28-year-old man from Lunenburg.

Both crashes resulted in Highway 332 and Highway 3 being closed for several hours as collision reconstructionists analyzed the scenes.

The weather in Lunenburg County on Saturday was sunny with some partial overcast and weather is not believed to have been a factor in either crash.

Lunenburg County RCMP continues to investigate both crashes and are hoping to speak with anyone who may have witnessed them.
