A listener has this dilemma at work:
I work for a government department that needs everyone to show up for their shift but the last few months have been a nightmare for most of us because of a new manager who is too accepting of coworker’s excuses for not coming in. 2 coworkers have been using the non-existent death in the family trick to get time off, when both family members have been deceased for years.
Shouldn’t managers make sure these excuses are real? When someone suddenly takes time off like this it affects the rest of us in the department badly as we have to take up double shifts and work nights and weekends.
I don’t want to be a snitch but I really can’t think of anything else to do about this situation. Any suggestions?
