I’m glad we have some warmer weather. If for no other reason than you might not need as much bug spray. That way, I can avoid the dilemma.
I’ve often wondered why there isn’t a product with both sunscreen and deet. I know, some people don’t use deet and you can find some insect repellents people swear by that don’t have deet, but since we live in the land of ticks and mosquitoes plentiful enough to carry off our young, I tend to use deet. But you also need sunscreen.
The thing is, these two things do not play well together. Deet will interfere with the sunscreen. In fact, it can reduce the effectiveness up to forty percent. You can use the two together, but you are supposed to apply the bug spray first, wait for a while until in dries (up to twenty minutes), then apply sunscreen.
I have been doing this, but entirely by accident. Mostly because I will face the bugs while going for a walk long before I will have to contend with the sun. I have been doing it the right way, but not because I had any clue what I was doing.
But with a bit of heat, the bugs tend to not be around much, at least until it starts to cool down and sunscreen is no longer an issue. So warmer weather tends to solve the problem for me.
Just one more reason to like warmer weather.
