Since we can’t travel right now, I keep telling myself how unimpressive some of the places I have visited were at the time.
My first big letdown was Magnetic Hill in New Brunswick. Even eight year old me knew it was a minor optical illusion.
My first trip to New York City was during a heatwave in summer with an ongoing garbage strike. It really, really smelled.
Las Vegas wasn’t much fun for me either, since I am not much of a gambler. Fremont Street was dirty and a real mess.
Even London England seemed a bit inauthentic as far as the pubs and the tourist attractions.
Now, I know I am sounding negative in this post and I don’t mean to be, so here are some alternatives that have never failed to amaze me.
I am never let down by a trip to Peggy’s Cove. Any time of year or any weather.
I love Montreal and Toronto and Vancouver, but Quebec City is the coolest place to visit outside of the depths of winter.
And while London England let me down, I truly enjoyed Leeds/Bradford in Northern England, hiking on the Yorkshire Dales, and hill walking outside Glasgow Scotland.
What tourist attraction was a big letdown for you?
