Mayor Rachel Bailey held a moment of silence to start yesterday’s council session.
It was to acknowledge the passing of two well known Lunenburg County residents.
Dr. David Abriel and his wife Heather were killed during yesterday’s crash on Highway 103 near Exit 5A at Ingramport.
Bailey says most people would know Dr. Abriel as head of palliative care at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital.
“[He] was very compassionate and much beloved doctor,” she says. “I knew Heather primarily as a musician and someone who brought a lot of joy.”
Police received a call shortly before 9:00am to a crash between an SUV and a commercial cube truck.
Corporal Dal Hutchinson says one of the vehicles appears to have crossed the centre line causing a head-on collision.
The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital.
Bailey says the Abriels were very active in the community and will be dearly missed
