Nova Scotia’s justice minister calls it an unprecendented incident.
An investigation has started into Sunday night’s riot at the Nova Scotia Youth Facility in Waterville.
Four staff members were seriously injured after they were attacked by four youth.
Diana Whalen says it’s the first time in over 30 years for this type of incident at the facility.
She says health and safety measures may need to improve.
“I would certainly say we need to look at that and that will be part of the investigation too, to see if there was adequate training and if that would have helped.”
Two men, ages 18 and 19, face assault charges while two other 17 year-olds were arrested but not charged.
The investigation is expected to last six weeks.
