Watching The Big Game

I’ve been a football fan as long as I can remember. I have no idea why. I never played any sort of organized version of the game. But we used to like to play as kids. Probably as much to slam each other to the ground and argue over the rules as anything, but we still played.

And I also liked to watch. It started with the Canadian Football League, since that’s what we were exposed to most, and grew to include the NFL and even some college football. I had a long time running bet with a cousin on the Rose Bowl every year where my initial bet of a quarter pretty much became the trophy for the game. Whoever picked the winner would proudly hold on to the quarter for the year. Amazingly, we kept the same quarter for many years.

I have gone to more than a few parties for big football games. For the big game itself, I will admit I enjoy not only the game but also the commercials. Some of the half time shows have been worth watching as well.

Although I am not a huge fan of either team playing this weekend, I intend to watch the game. Hopefully, the game itself will be entertaining. There have been times the game was so one sided it was pretty boring to watch. But there’s always snacks. And the commercials.
