Western Zone Vaccinations Start Today

The Nova Scotia Health Authority will start administering COVID-19 vaccines in the Western Health Zone today.

The first Western Zone vaccine will be administered at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville

Previously vaccines were only being administered in Halifax.

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine which was the first to arrive in Nova Scotia has to be stored at extremely cold temperatures which is only possible in Halifax.

Now that the province has received some of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines which do not have the same storage requirements, the vaccination program is able to spread beyond the Halifax Regional Municipality.

On Monday the first COVID-19 vaccines administered outside of the HRM began, starting in the Eastern Zone at Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

The Nova Scotia Health Authority says they will be providing more details on today’s rollout in Kentville so follow this story for updates later on.
