I walked away from the game of Monopoly years ago. The game would just never end.
Turns out it was our stupid “house rules” that were making the game last ten times longer than it should.
One, if you don’t buy a street, utility or rail station the property goes up for auction to the highest bidder.
That gets rid of the properties way faster.
The other house rule we played by is putting all fines on Free Parking. The official rules say that Free Parking is just a resting place.
So we were making all the players richer, making the game last longer.
