We keep hearing a lot about it. A lot of it could be just media outlets, trying to find something to talk about. But there has been a lot of talk about elections.
Not just provincially, but also federally. It may not seem like it, due to the fact we have been a bit distracted by some other issues for the past year or more, but the time is getting close. Funding announcements are being made. Things that sound a lot like promises are being made. It could be happening.
I’m not going to say I have no interest in politics. I do. But just not at this moment. Many of us, myself included, are still focused on making sure family and friends are safe and staying that way. Hopefully very shortly we will be able to start gathering once again. But while politics may be discussed at some of these gatherings, it will not be the main focus.
And maybe that’s what some politicians are hoping for. That we are distracted and just don’t care about the details that could be coming up during an election campaign.
I know we are getting toward that time when elections are mandated to happen. There’s only so long they can stretch things out. So we are bound to have elections happen over the next few months.
Voting is one of those things I take seriously. We all should vote, and I intend to when and if the occasion comes along. But I can stand to wait for a while longer.
