We’ve got a forecast this week of daily high’s in the mid to upper teens so I’m not in any hurry to change my tires.
The rule of thumb is that when daytime highs don’t get above 7 degrees the rubber on your all seasons gets too hard and affects handling.
Some people I know have a “tradition” of sorts – they swap their tires after November 11th Remembrance Day.
Others wait until the first snowfall. Even more wait for the second snowfall.
The problem with putting winter tires on too early in the season is that they wear more quickly during warm temperatures.
During all the chaos of the pandemic I forgot to change my winter tires to all seasons and I drove an entire summer on them.
My wear was within reasonable amounts.
So I think I’m going to put the winter tires on next week.
When do you change to winter tires?
