One man, 19, dead after crash in White Rock

A 19-year-old man from Kentville is dead after a car crash in White Rock, near Wolfville.

Police say it happened just after 2 a.m. Saturday on Ridge Road near White Rock Road.

Officers say a Kia Rio left the road, hit a tree and rolled onto its side.

First responders found it fully engulfed in fire when they got to the scene.

A 19-year-old, believed to be the driver, was pronounced dead.

The passenger in the car, also a 19-year-old man from Kentville, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Correction: A previous version of this story said that the car left the road and hit a pole. The RCMP have since corrected their original news release. In fact, the car left the road and hit a tree.

The investigation continues.
