I saw a tweet the other day about how we in the Maritimes don’t use our front door and it was so true!
Growing up, we never used our front door except to pay the paperboy once a week. Everyone in the family and all our friends and neighbours came to the side door.
Is this just a Nova Scotian, Maritime or Atlantic Canadian thing? And why?
Is it because the back door or side door is where you drop your muddy boots and shoes?
Or is it because the front door would be too formal, and everyone who enters the home is a member of the family or close friend?
