Fun fact- I’m originally from the city, spent most of my life living and working there. I chose the South Shore for a lot of reasons and will probably never leave.
The biggest question I get from my friends and family in the city is “don’t you miss the ________”
Well, honestly, no. I visit my mother in the city and we never take a side trip to pick up anything. There’s no special restaurants that offer something that we either can’t make at home or get here on the South Shore. (Thank you Raj for opening Curry Express!)
I briefly considered going to visit IKEA shortly after it opened but then I saw the parking lot and decided those Swedish meatballs weren’t that important.
That might change soon, though. Denny’s is opening it’s first Maritime location in Dartmouth Crossing. I’ve experienced their wonderful breakfasts over the years and can’t wait to have another “Grand Slam”
When I was visiting the valley I’d always stop at the Taco Bell in Coldbrook, but that store is long gone. I hear there are two left in the province – the one in Yarmouth and one in Truro. The only problem is that I never go through Truro in the afternoon – it’s always early in the morning on my way to visit my son and family in Quebec.
Is there a store, restaurant or attraction in the city that you’d be willing to make that trip for?
