Wind Chill: What’s The Deal?

I’ve never really understood wind chill! I get that it’s “What the chill feels like” but what does that mean! I did the research so you don’t have to! AKA- found a video about it!

Why Does Wind Chill Matter?

Wind chill isn’t just about comfort—it’s about safety.
  • Frostbite Risk: At extreme wind chills, exposed skin can freeze in minutes.
  • Hypothermia Danger: Rapid heat loss can lower your core temperature, leading to serious health issues.

The Science Behind It

The wind chill index uses a formula that factors in air temperature and wind speed. For example:
  • Air temperature: -10°C
  • Wind speed: 30 km/h
  • Feels like: -20°C
The faster the wind, the lower the wind chill.
By the way, wind chill only affects living things, so your home or car won’t be colder if the windchill is extreme!
