The future has arrived. Robot dogs are now available. Well, not to everyone, at least not yet. But it’s getting closer.
Boston Dynamics has announced that Spot will now be commercially available. For now, companies in certain industries, like construction sites and gas and power installations can apply. If they are approved they can buy a robot dog for about the price of a new car. It’s much like getting a real dog, only a bit more pricey.
There is also a smaller version called Spot Mini that is supposed to be available soon.
It sounds interesting, but other than not having to feed it and clean up after it, I can’t see why I’d want a robot dog. The real thing seems like a much better idea. Plus, when the robot uprising comes along, the real dog will be on your side.
