Today is a big day at the Big Ex!
Not only do we have the official kick off for the annual event this evening with Grand Street Parade at 6pm but there is so much more.
Of course we are going to move into our “radio shack” where we broadcast for the week on the grounds. You have a chance to win our beautiful broadcast baby barn in support of SHAID Tree Animal Shelter.
Today is also 4-H Day at the Big Ex. From this morning’s “4-H Day Welcome” at 9am there are many events throughout the morning in the Angie Brown Exit Reality Plaza B Ring.
This is not the only day with 4-H competition during exhibition week in Bridgewater.
Yesterday there were a number of 4-H light horse events held in the Darren Smith Excavating Jubilee Show Ring.
You need to take some time to walk through the 4-H barn while you are at the Big Ex to check out the life skills projects as well. Take notice of the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion ribbons as those are the projects that will be on display again the fall at the South Shore Exhibition Grounds in Bridgewater for the 2026 NS 4-H Provincial Show. This is a free event coming up in October and you need to plan on being there for this great event.

If you can’t make it down today for 4-H events, you have not missed out completely.
Our 4-H youth will be taking to the Plaza “B” Showring again Saturday morning to battle it out with their woodsman competition and tug-of-war.
There are lots of great not to be missed events again this year as the Big Ex celebrates 135 years in Bridgewater.
