RCMP: Man Faces Theft, Fraud Charges Involving Oak Island Society

A 53 year-old Lunenburg County man has been charged after a month-long investigation into reports of theft and fraud involving a non-profit organization with ties to Oak Island.

Friends of Oak Island says on their Facebook page they have been victim of an online ticket scam.

The society says while information is still being gathered, it appears the individual has been fraudulently selling “tickets” for their island tours.

RCMP searched a home and vehicle in Lunenburg County as part of their investigation before arresting the accused.

He faces charges of theft and fraud over $5,000.

Police expect further charges to be laid.

The accused is expected to appear in Bridgewater provincial court in November.
