The Town of Bridgewater is collecting Christmas ornaments to help spread holiday cheer.
For the second year, the town is asking residents to drop off home-made ornaments for their Christmas display.
Patrick Hirtle, communications for the town, says the idea is to tap into people’s creativity while also giving back in a time of need.
“At the end of the holidays, what we are going to do with these ornaments is donate them to a family in need in the area,” he said.
“That way that family will have brand new ornaments to put on their tree when 2020 comes around.”
He also says those who donate will also receive a ballot for a gift pack which will include some town swag and a certificate to a local business.
Hirtle said they saw around 12-14 ornaments get dropped off last year, and is hoping they can increase that number for this year’s donation.
“The more we can collect, the better it is for the family that’s going to benefit to receiving these down the road,” he said.
“That way, hopefully they can feel like they are able to bring their home into the holiday season next year.”
Ornaments will be collected in the lobby of town hall until noon on Christmas Eve
