It was the swim of a lifetime for a 70 year-old man from Lunenburg county.
Dayspring’s Ron Allen took part in The Big Swim on Sunday.
It’s a 14 kilometre journey across the Northumberland Strait.
Swimmers were raising money to send sick children to Brigadoon Village – a summer camp in the Annapolis Valley.
Allen says it was a rewarding experience.
“Never underestimate yourself, if we don’t challenge ourselves, how will we ever know what we are able to accomplish?”
Allen doesn’t plan on taking the dip again next year.
Fifty-one swimmers made the journey – raising roughly $140,000.
Listen to the entire interview with Ron Allen – this weekend on South Shore Sunday Morning – it airs at 8:00 am on Country 100.7 and 9:04am on CKBW
