Town of Bridgewater Councillor Michael Graves is looking to move on to something new.
In an announcement today, Graves says he will not be rerunning for a third term in council this Fall.
When talking about the decision, he said he cherishes his time as a councilor, but he just wants to see what else is out there.
“You know, I’m heavily involved in the United Way,” he said, “We do an awful lot for not only the residents in the Town of Bridgewater but for people throughout Lunenburg County. I want to continue doing that and see if there are other opportunities out there.”

Graves was originally elected to council in 2012 and once again in 2016.
Since then, he said he and council have accomplished many great feats for the town, including implementing the Bridgewater Transit as well as building the local skate park.
“Since 2004 and 2005, youth in the Bridgewater area were promised a skate-park, but it was always ‘It’s going to be next year, going to be next year,'” he said.
“The fact this council just said ‘You know what, we’re going to do this,’ and did it, I am thrilled about that. Those kids needed something, and we gave it to them.”
Graves hopes the future council will continue on the work they’ve done with projects like the Bridgewater Transit as well as other projects, and will carry the same respect the current council had for the town and each other.
As for his plans for the future, he is unsure, but said anything he does must help the community in some way.
“I’m a community minded guy,” he said.
“I like doing things that benefit people, especially people who struggle to have a voice for themselves such as lower income residents, those with disabilities and those in need.
“I’m certainly not the type to just sit at home.”
