With colder temperatures rolling in and snow just around the corner, police are recommending commuters prepare for winter driving conditions.
Nova Scotia RCMP are asking drivers to start planning for messy weather by investing in good winter tires and book well in advance to get them installed.
“With the temperature getting cooler, now is the time to winterize your vehicle,” says Sgt. Andrew Joyce, Nova Scotia RCMP.
“Getting vehicle preparations out of the way early will mean a safer and less stressful drive when the snow starts to fall.”
Some tire shops around the South Shore are now booking appointments into November.
Police say winter tires will help in slippery situations by displacing slush, something all-seasons don’t do as well.
They also recommend checking over the functions of your car, filling up anti-freeze and windshield washer fluids, and adding a window scraper and emergency kit to your trunk.
