A nearly week long effort to catch a pig loose in Bridgewater has a happy ending.
The reddish-brown pig which had been spotted in the subdivision behind South Shore Regional Hospital was safely captured by a local resident.
Eric Strowbridge said he began trying to catch the pig after seeing it in his yard on Saturday.
“Our neighbor had a dog pen so we put some food in it and I geared up a rope so I could pull the door shut when he went in,” explained Strowbridge.
He said he was finally able to catch the pig early this morning.
“He must have been really hungry and I geared up a longer piece of rope and put some more bread in.” Said Strowbridge.” he came back, he went in the cage then I pulled the door shut and the pig was caught”
The pig is now safe and has been transported to a local farm until his owner can be located.
