RCMP Find Man Who Escaped Custody

Several people noticed an increased police presence in Bridgewater Tuesday night.

RCMP and Bridgewater Police teamed up to look for a 23-year-old man who escaped custody.

Shawn Kyle Debruin of Bridgewater had been arrested earlier in the day after an officer attempted to stop him for speeding leading to a short chase that ended with Debruin flipping his car along highway 10.

Two women in the car were treated for minor injuries and released.

Debruin was uninjured and taken into custody.

Police aren’t saying how the man escaped however he was found in a home in Liverpool around 10 o’clock last night and re-arrested.

Debruin has been charged with Dangerous Driving, Operating a Motor Vehicle while being Pursued by Police, Breach of Probation and Escape from Lawful Custody.

He is expected to remain in custody until January 4, when he is due in court.
