The RCMP are now confirming the incident in Lunenburg on Tuesday was a stabbing.
A 49-year old from Lunenburg was taken by Life-Flight to Halifax where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Sgt. Mark MacPherson says they received a call around 2 o’clock by a passerby who noticed the man lying in the sidewalk.
“Approximately an hour later we were able to gain entrance to that residence where the incident occurred and apprehended a 57-year-old Lunenburg man.”
MacPherson says Thomas Alvin Selig was arrested without incident and has been in custody ever since.
He has been charged with attempted murder among other things.
MacPherson says this wasn’t a random act and the two men were known to each other.
Selig will be in court tomorrow to decide if he will remain in custody until a trial can be held.
