Town of Bridgewater Responds To SSRSB Appeal

The South Shore Regional School Boards decision to appeal a court decision disappoints Bridgewater’s mayor.

David Mitchell says he was hopeful after conversations with the board late last year.

But he says the recent decision to appeal the judicial review granted in December changes things.

Mitchell says he’s disappointed the two sides have been unable to work out a solution together.

He says the students will pay the steepest price for the delay.

“We want our students to know where they’re going. We would have preferred that the board not file an appeal, then we would have had an answer during the judicial review, when that concluded, that would have answered the question towards the end of March.”

With an appeal in the works Mitchell says students will be lucky to know where they’re headed by the end of the school year.

Mitchell says the appeal doesn’t change the town’s plan to move forward with their attempt to stop the board from moving students from Bridgewater Jr. Sr. High to Park View.

The school board and town are due back in court this Thursday.
