Province, School Board Looking At Capabilities Of Pentz, Petite Riviere Schools

A review will wrap up this week looking into two Lunenburg County schools.

The province along with school board officials are determining capabilities of Pentz and Petite Riviere Elementary schools.

Land and building assessments were conducted by Stantec.

The process started last fall after Minister Karen Casey indicated major additions and alterations could happen at one of the two facilities.

Superintendent Geoff Cainen says the board has not made a decision about the A&A.

“They have none of the information from them, I have not even seen the reports yet. And, that’s why I think it’s important that they all come forward at the board meeting at the end of this month.”

The board has until 2018 to determine alternative steps after deciding in 2013 to close both schools.
