Lumberjacks Fire Head Coach Laurie Barron

The South Shore Lumberjacks have relieved their head coach of his duties.

Laurie Barron was fired by the Maritime Hockey League club after the team’s 4-3 loss to the league-worst County Aces.

The Lumberjacks have 19 wins through 40 games this season and sit fourth in the Eastlink South Division, but are only six points back of first place.

Barron says he is shocked but is confident the club is capable of great things this season.

“I truly believe that the Lumberjacks can win the division. I’ve seen some good things there and two wins against Woodstock are proof they can play against anyone.”

Woodstock is in first place overall in the MHL and are ranked 20th in Canada by the CJHL.

General Manager Brad Muise will take over as interim head coach.

The Lumberjacks are on the ice Thursday night in Amherst.
