Time Running Out For Chester Fire Service Contract

The Municipality of Chester only has a little more than a month to negotiate fire services.

A 10 year contract with the Village of Chester is about to run out.

Councillor Sharon Church-Cornelius represents district seven who will be greatly effected if an agreement can’t be reached.

“We are in negotiations,” she says, “and there are some clauses in the contract that need to be worked out before we would sign.”

She says some people in her district want to have a greater voice when it comes to how tax dollars are spent.

How that could be achieved remains unclear.

The old contract will lapse on March 31st.
