Boil Water Advisory Lifted In Chester

The water is good to drink again in Chester.

A precautionary boil water advisory issued for parts of the village was lifted today by the Department of Environment.

The advisory was put in place on February 3 after bacteria was found in a dug well on Pleasant Street.

A privately owned sewer line has since been repaired.

The department says private well owners are responsible for ensuring their wells are constructed to provincial standards and water is safe to drink.

Wells should be tested for bacteria every six months
