Astor Theatre Announces New General Manager

The Astor Theatre in Liverpool has a new general manager.

Andrew Bursey, the current GM of Dixie Lee Family Restaurant in Liverpool, will be stepping into the role at the theatre.

Bursey performed on stage at the Astor while growing up in Liverpool and attended the Theatre Arts Program at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton.

He says he’s excited and nervous about the possibility of making a positive impact in Queens.

“First day jitters, that’s all. I’m sure once I get my feet wet and sink my teeth into the role, it will be business as usual.”

Bursey says there will be a transition from his duties with the restaurant to his new role at the theatre.

However, he adds it will be business as usual at the restaurant.

He will begin managing the Astor Theatre and overseeing the daily operations and administration in April.

“It’s a huge responsibility to be given to, sort of, head the hollowed historic Astor Theatre.Of course being from Liverpool, I feel a duty to live up to everyone’s expectations.”

Additionally, the theatre’s board of directors has selected Jon Paterson of Vancouver, BC to act as Artistic and Technical Director.
