Bridgewater: Canada Day Committee Trying To Create Weekend Getaway Package

Bridgewater is trying to make Canada Day a little more inviting.

The Canada Day on the LaHave committee is looking to create a getaway weekend package to attract visitors to the town during the country’s 150th anniversary celebration.

A meeting will be held at noon on Wednesday at town hall.

Councillor Jennifer McDonald says they need to know what people or businesses can bring to the table.

“We recognize that Canada Day falls on a Saturday this year and we figure a lot of people will take advantage of a long weekend to kick off the summer and get away and we want to make Bridgewater their destination.”

McDonald says they also hope to hear from hotels, restaurants, gas stations, and recreational companies who can offer programs or incentives at reduced rates.
