The curling teams of Mary Mattatall and Mary-Anne Arsenault lead the standings after Day 1 at the provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
Both teams are 2-0.
Jill Brothers, formerly of Liverpool, sits at 1-1.
She defeated Christie Gamble 7-4 in the opening draw before falling to the Mattatall rink 7-6 last night.
Two more draws will be held today on the ladies side.
Meanwhile, on the men’s side in the provincial curling championships, Chester’s Chad Stevens is among four teams at 1-0 after the first draw.
The Stevens rink won their opening game 8-2 over the K. Thompson team.
Play continues this morning at the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax.
