The Town of Mahone Bay and the Mahone Bay Centre have received funding from the federal government.
The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency has given the town just over $20,000 towards the natural playground in Jubilee Park and close to $13,000 to the centre to help buy a new boiler.
The funding is from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.
South Shore – St. Margaret’s MP, Bernadette Jordan, says a high efficiency boiler will be purchased.
“It has to be economically viable for them and heating costs are a huge burden on big buildings like that. It’s good that we’re able to help out and provide some money for the boiler.”
Meanwhile, construction is almost complete on the playground, which will include climbing boulders, a wood tunnel and a sandbox.
That project also received funding from the town, province and Municipality of Lunenburg.
