VIDEO: LighthouseNOW Publisher Resigns After 32 Years

Lynn Hennigar’s life in the newspaper industry is coming to an end.

The current publisher for the LighthouseNOW Progress Bulletin, serving Lunenburg and Queens counties, is resigning after 32 years.

“I think my decision to resign is rooted in my upbringing, rooted in my parents. Both of them did well in life.”

Ralph and Margaret Hennigar bought the local newspaper in 1968.

It was part of the Hennigar family for 47 years until it sold to Advocate Media in 2015.

The 53 year-old Hennigar was left with a legacy fund following her father’s death last year and she feels there is an opportunity to pursue a new endeavour.

What that is, remains to be seen.

“I have some interest in things like the new Right to Die legislation, hospices, palliative care, that type of thing. I don’t know if that’s an area I want to work on, and I’m very involved with the Now Lunenburg County initiative.”

She believes the newspaper is being better served with new, young blood.

Hennigar says she will miss people the most.

Her last day is March 31.
