Province Releases 2017-18 Capital and 5-Year Highway Improvement Plans

The province is planning to build a new Department of Transportation mechanical garage in Hebbville.

It’s listed as part of the Nova Scotia government’s capital plan for 2017-18.

Other projects listed include road improvements in Shelburne on Highway 103 near Exit 26 and Route 203, continued work on the Shelburne Bridge along Trunk 3 and additions and alterations at Park View Education Centre in Bridgewater.

Finance and Treasury Board Minister, Randy Delorey, says there will also be improvements in medical care across Nova Scotia.

“Such as establishing new dialysis units in Kentville, Digby, Dartmouth and Bridgewater.”

Expansions to the emergency department and intensive care unit at South Shore Regional Hospital are also part of the 2017-18 capital plan.

The $684.2-million plan includes $169.2-million for the new Halifax Convention Centre, which was deferred from last year.

Meanwhile, some roads in Lunenburg and Shelburne counties will get attention this year.

The Nova Scotia government also releasing its 5-year Highway Improvement Plan.

Surprisingly, none of them are in Queens County.
