A member of the teacher’s union executive says an already difficult situation has become even more complex.
The Atlantic Association of Universities say work-to-rule is keeping student teachers out of the classroom, violating a section of the Education Act.
Wally Fiander, first vice-president of the NSTU, was reacting to the threat of legal action against the union by five universities.
“It’s very disappointing that they take that view. They apparently are missing the idea that we’re fighting for better education for all our students
It adds to the complexities and makes an extra challenge into the mix.”
NSTU president Liette Doucet issued a statement yesterday saying the union asked universities in December for their contingency plans but haven’t received any.
