Queens: Region Seeks Partner To Improve Hillsview Acres

A residential care facility in Queens is in need of a major renovation.

The 29-bed Hillsview Acres in Middlefield was identified for replacement in 2013 by the provincial government.

The Region of Queens is now looking for a partner to help develop the facility.

Mayor David Dagley says a request for proposals will be issued in the next few weeks.

“At this point, there would be options to renovate the exisiting facility or potentially build a new facility. That will come through this process.”

The Department of Health and Wellness would provide final approval if a developer is found.

There are 30 full-time, part-time and casual staff at the facility, which is owned and operated by the municipality.

Dagley says their priority is to see the beds and jobs remain in Queens County.

The municipality has authorized up to $10,000 to develop and administer the RFP.
